My First Fashion Week as a Blogger Pt 1

My First Fashion Week as a Blogger Pt 1

For me, Miami Fashion week started with an unexpected surprise. I received an unsolicited email a few weeks prior inviting me to Fashion Week. I flipped out of my chair and did a dance in my office. Then I gushed to my bffs about how excited I was and what the H was I going to wear?????????

I studied the schedule and the international designers that would be a part of the showcase, and later, was asked by the production company to do a short interview. (Video to come!)

Miami Fashion Week was founded 16 years ago by Beth Sobol, an international fashion model for 20+ years and fashion producer. Since it's inception, Miami Fashion Week's runways have hosted the latest designs of major international designers such as Custo Barcelona, Moschino, Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, to name a few.

Day #1 : Kickoff Party at Eden Roc Hotel

The party started at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach where celebrities such as the Kardashians have been known to stay and enjoy the amenities. Over 900 guests comprised of media, celebrities, and fashion designers attended. There was even a fun "Silent Dance Party Floor" where you put on these cool glow-in-the-dark headphones and grooved to your own beat.

Day #1: Fashion Shows

I did not get to attend any of the day time workshops (bills gotta be paid), but I raced out of the office, glammed up, and sped (no tickets tho) over to the beach in time for the Miami Overture (featuring the resort wear of Erin Healy / Vika Frolova / Fabrizio de Castro), the Miami Showcase (featuring Nicolas Felizola), the Eastern Air Lines Competition (~~Julian Chang / Lisu Vega / Kayce Armstrong / Samy Gicherman / Viviana G) and Special Guest Custo Barcelona

Here are some pics to highlight the fun of sitting in the front row! Excuse the pic quality, all pictures were taken from my iPhone. Until my iPhone died...

Day #2: Fashion Shows (photocredits: Luis Perez www.thelouiscollection.com )

This evening started off with the Jones African American Showcase, emceed by the one and only Cynthia Bailey from the Real Housewives of Atlanta ( featuring Altrichia Cook / D'Andra Williams / Tracey Saintil / The Wilbourne Sisters),

followed by the Peru Showcase ( featuring Escudo / Ana Maria Guiulfo / Claudia Bertolero)

and ending with Special Guest Andres Sarda.

  • I leave a response when I especially enjoy a article on a website or I have something to contribute to the discussion. Usually it's triggered by the passion communicated in the article I read. And on this post My First Fashion Week as a Blogger Pt 1 - Alamode Maya > Home. I was actually excited enough to post a thought :-) I actually do have a few questions for you if it's allright. Could it be only me or does it give the impression like some of these responses come across as if they are left by brain dead visitors? :-P And, if you are posting at additional online sites, I would like to keep up with you. Could you make a list all of all your shared pages like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?

  • As long as you follow the instructions recommended by the manufacturer of the set you choose, your set will stand up to frequent use, and give you many years of good service. With new cookware, it's nice to have new spatulas, spoons, whisks etc. The Pure Living cookware is both stove top and oven safe up to 750 degrees so the high broil setting is no worry for the ceramic coating or the silicone handles.
